Turn notes into Cursor skills
A skill is a short instruction file — a repeatable procedure an agent follows step by step, not a one-off prompt.
When to promote
Promote when you have done the same job twice and the steps are clear enough to hand to an agent without you in the room.
How to promote
- Open a note that encodes a real workflow.
- Use Promote (or ask your Cursor agent with the promote skill) to draft a
SKILL.md. - Write triggers in weakest-hypothesis form: when should this skill fire?
- Keep rules concrete. Prefer checklists over essays.
- Save it under
skills/<category>/<name>/in your vault.
Use it in Cursor
Export or sync the skill into your Cursor project. The agent reads SKILL.md when the trigger matches. See live examples on Community.
